In late November 2012, a school retreat was performed at Canossa’s Retreat House in Pondok Karya, Bintaro, South Tangerang. The fifth and sixth graders from the Primary Unit were spending their weekend in a spiritual-cum-physical exercises. Scores of teachers were accompanying them, serving as both mentors and facilitators during this coaching time.
Here are some personal impressions shared by the 6th graders: Melivy Kumala, Elizabeth Kumala, Jessica and Shannon.

We arrived at school at 10.30 a.m. and finally we left Meruya at 11.00 for Bintaro. We used two big buses; one bus for the fifth graders, while another bus for the sixth graders.
The trip to Wisma Canossa in Pondok Karya, Bintaro, was much fun, as Ivandy was very creative to create jokes and funny stories. As we finally arrived there, our coach Mr. Aji soon asked all participants in the retreat to manage ourselves as ever previously told.
The boys and girls participants were divided into separate sleeping areas.
Coaching program started at 02.45 p.m. as all participants were told to be around in the functional hall in the first floor. We were entertained with string of fun games and energetic songs.
The first round of coaching was really great and much fun until we had our first refreshment time and soon followed by our personal activity including having a shower.
Second session of the coaching program started after the snack time until the dinner time.
What a nice chit-chat with fellow school mates as I remember that Callista and Edrick were very creative in making jokes and telling funny stories.
As soon as another session was done, we finally had out silence moment to pray before finally going to bed. I joined with Elizabeth, Christine and Valerie at the same dormitory. But it takes hours before we finally fell asleep and enjoyed our dreams until very early morning.
The next morning was another kind of coaching program.
As soon as we had our breakfast, we were told by our teacher-mentors that we would have a special time to boost a leadership spirit. So many activities were exercised so that we finally had our last lunch before finally packing our personal things to return home to our base at school.
Thanks to Ivandy that during our last lunch, he made no much jokes again.

On Wednesday 23 October, I was very excited because on that day I was scheduled to go for a retreat season in Wisma Canossa in Bintaro. Since very early morning, I prepared everything for this special trip.
While arriving at the school’s compound, there were already two big vans.
At 11.00 a.m., all participants were told to go into the buses. All 5th graders were on the same bus, while I and my schoolfellows from the 6th grade in another bus.
On the way to Wisma Canossa, we were entertained by our friends with their smart jokees. There was a lot of refreshment to eat and drink. Also joined on the bus were Ms. Maria and Mr. Jeffry.
Not more than 30 minutes, we were told that we had finally reached our destination: Wisma Canossa in Bintaro. We were told to get our things and brought them to our rooms.
Our coaching teachers gave some announcements on which room we were expected to stay the night. I finally know that I shared the same room with Melivy, Christine and Annabel Valerie.
Later on, we were told to gather in the function hall where our coaching members namely Kak Peter, Kak Yanus and Kak Iwan were already waiting for us. After delivering some short speeches introducing themselves, they taught us some new religious songs and drilled us with the technique on how to sing a gospel song and how to perform some dances.
The theme to be discussed in the first session was about “Me and Myself” with the aim that every student was expected to respect himself or herself. Arrogancey and inferiority complex were not advised; but on the contrary we were told to be a self-confident figure.
“Me and My Family” was another theme to be discussed in the next session. Our coaching team shared the personal spiritual experience of God’s presence.
After these two different sessions, we were told to make some groups where another theme on “Me and My Friends” was delivered in the respective groups. We were told not to discriminate friends.
A variety of fun games were presented after these three sessions and we really enjoyed the fun.
Dinner time at 07.00 p.m. was another time to enjoy. Soon after, we were told to have a short break time to have a shower.
At 10.00 p.m. we had our reflection time in the function hall. The light was turned off and every student was expected to close their eyes. Our coaching teacher Mr. Aji presented materials for reflection on which we were told to love our parents more.
Almost at midnight we were finally falling asleep and enjoyed our sleep soundly.
The outbound experience was another fun game we had very much waited for long. It was a real fun to experience the fun games with the best scores to compete. When we had our session in the late morning we were encouraged to share our experiences in the outbound.
Announcement of the winning team during the outbound match was another interesting thing to learn about. My group gained the third winner; while second winning team was the first group and the first winner goes to the third group.
We packed our stuff and returned home with happiness. Something to learn about to become a new person and to have a better quality of life.
Learning about Oneself

This is the story of our trip to the Retreat House in Wisma Canossa in Bintaro. We arrived at school at 11 a.m. and brought our luggages and other stuffs we needed during the retreat session. After making a line up and marching into the bus, we needed at least 50 minutes to reach our destination in Wisma Canossa.
Mr. Aji told every participant to go to our rooms and we found that each room was very clean and neat.
At noon, we were told to be around the function hall where Mr. Aji would give us our name tag. Some songs were presented in this session as Mr. Aji divided us into different groups.
Some sessions were presented where the reflection on the themes “Me and Myself”, “Me and My Friends” and “Me and My Parents” were delivered.
A special session was performed at late night where Mr. Aji presented a good material for reflection. We were told to perform a prayer for our beloved parents. Some students commenced to weep as we were deeply motivated and moved.
The next morning we got up very early in the morning. After having our breakfast we had our outbound experience and we were given some songs to sing and play. We were told to have some fun games such as spider web, drawing Burung Garuda, writing Pancasila, flipping a map and so on.
Ms. Sari gave the scores of our achievement during this fun competitive game and Mr. Jeffry announced the winning teams. Unfortunately, some of us failed in gaining the trophy.
The trip to Wisma Canossa was something good to remember. We were a little bit ‘disappointed’ as our retreat was only one day. Why not longer?
